United Airlines is expanding its flight routes to include Marrakesh, Morocco, and Medellin, Colombia, while also increasing service to Asia. Flights from Newark to Marrakesh are set to begin on October 24 using a Boeing 767-300ER, and flights from Houston to Medellin will start on October 27 using Boeing 737s. The airline will also offer year-round service to Cebu, Philippines, from Tokyo’s Narita Airport.

United’s focus with these new routes is on premium leisure travel, with strong demand for business class and Premium Select seats. International travel revenue has been growing for U.S. airlines post-pandemic, with United experiencing an 18% growth in international revenue compared to less than 7% growth in domestic ticket sales in the last four months of 2023.

Additionally, United will launch four weekly flights between Shanghai and Los Angeles on August 29. They are also adding a second daily flight between Los Angeles and Hong Kong, and starting October 25, there will be a second daily flight between San Francisco and Seoul, South Korea, as well as between Newark and Porto, Portugal.

United Airlines is planning to launch new flights to Marrakesh, Morocco, and Medellin, Colombia, as well as ramp up service to Asia. The airline sees a strong demand for premium leisure travel, especially in business and premium class. United’s international revenue has been growing faster than domestic sales, with a focus on expanding routes to Asia. The airline will also offer new flights between Shanghai and Los Angeles, additional flights to Hong Kong, Seoul, and Porto. This expansion reflects United’s confidence in the increasing demand for international travel post-pandemic.
