Qualcomm introduced Snapdragon X Plus as its latest Arm-based chip for laptops, following the launch of the Snapdragon X Elite platform. The chip features a 10-core CPU, a 45 TOPS NPU, and supports up to 64GB of RAM. It also boasts on-device AI capabilities, 5G, Wi-Fi 7 connectivity, and can power three external displays at 4K HDR resolution.
The Snapdragon X Plus platform is built on a 4nm process and includes 10 Oryon CPU cores, a 3.8 TFLOPs Adreno GPU, and a 45 TOPS Hexagon NPU for on-device AI computing. It supports LPDDR5x RAM and storage options like NVMe (PCIe Gen 4) or UFS 4.0.
Qualcomm claims that the Snapdragon X Plus platform is 37% faster and 54% more power-efficient compared to competing processors. It supports a 4K HDR display with a 120Hz refresh rate and three 4K HDR external displays simultaneously.
The chip can handle tasks like music generation, translation, and code generation using AI tools. It features dual 18-bit Spectra ISPs for cameras, aptX audio support, and connectivity options like 5G, Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 5.4. Laptops powered by the Snapdragon X Plus are expected to be available in mid-2024.
