Apple is reportedly delving into the development of personal home robots after shutting down its electric vehicle project earlier this year. Engineers at Apple are said to be working on a robot that can follow users around their homes as well as a tabletop device that can adjust a display screen using robotics. The company’s car project, known as the Special Projects Group, was terminated in February after initially being launched in 2014. This move comes as Apple continues to invest in new product markets such as the Apple Watch and Vision Pro virtual reality headset, although the latter is not expected to generate significant revenue for some time. The home robot project is in its early stages, with Apple’s hardware engineering division and artificial intelligence and machine learning group overseeing the research and development. Other tech companies, such as Amazon, have also explored home robots, with the introduction of its Astro home robot in 2021. Apple declined to comment on its home robot project.
