Barry Diller recently purchased a 1.5-acre lot with 200 feet of waterfront in North Bay Road, setting a new price record for the area. The lot was previously home to the Whitehall Mansion. Diller, the chairperson of IAC and Expedia Group, closed the deal for $45 million, marking a significant milestone in Miami Beach’s real estate market.

The property was acquired from Bruce Beal Jr.’s Bay Road Property LLC, with Mick Duchon of Corcoran representing the seller and Reid Heidenry, Marko Gojanovic, and Brett Harris representing Diller in the transaction. The lot was previously rumored to be a secret meeting place for John F. Kennedy and Marilyn Monroe and included luxurious amenities like nine bedrooms, a pool, and a helipad.

Diller, who is married to fashion designer Diane von Furstenburg, has not disclosed his future plans for the vacant lot. The purchase reflects the rising prices in Miami’s waterfront properties, with other high-value transactions taking place in the area in recent years.

Billionaire Barry Diller purchased a waterfront plot on Miami Beach’s exclusive North Bay Road for a record-setting $45 million. The 1.5-acre lot with 200 feet of waterfront previously housed the Whitehall Mansion, which was rumored to be a meeting spot for John F. Kennedy and Marilyn Monroe. The property was sold by Bruce Beal Jr.’s Bay Road Property LLC, who had acquired it from tax evaders in 2018. Diller’s purchase is indicative of the rising prices in Miami’s waterfront properties following the pandemic. The future plans for the vacant lot have not been disclosed publicly. Diller, who is married to fashion designer Diane von Furstenburg, has been involved in various philanthropic projects, such as the creation of New York City’s Little Island Park. The sale of the property was facilitated by real estate agents from Corcoran, One Sotheby’s International Realty, and Douglas Elliman.
